Drawing realistic animals - its all about the pastel layers

I thought some might find this photo useful to see.

It shows how I build up the layers of pastel.

left is the initial under layer

Middle is that layer blended in (I used a stump)

Right has the darks in, then the lights put on top.

All my drawing don't always follow this process exactly, but I do 90% of the time
